Martha’s Herbery
589 Pomfret St, Pomfret, CT 06258
A neat little place to visit for jewelry, special gifts, baby gifts, and curios. I have attended a number of her tea parties and special dinners. They are by reservation only. She has an awesome chef and caters for all kind of dietary restriction. Grounds are well worth a visit.

Gillette Castle State Park
67 River Rd, East Haddam, CT 06423
A twenty-four room mansion reminiscent of a medieval fortress. This stone castle reveals built-in couches, table trackway, and woodcarvings that all point to the creative genius William Gillette. The extensive grounds are a real treat to wander. Well worth a visit.

Stunning Diana’s Pool
Route 198, Chaplin
A beautiful place to hike and swim in an old-style swimming hole or picnic. The swimming was abused years ago and it was banned. Locals swim there now and a blind eye is taken. It is well worth a visit. Mostly a younger crowd but they have always been respectful towards us old fogies. A super way to hang out on the rocks and enjoy a long hot summer day. Smells and sounds of nature.
From the junction of US-6 and CT 198 in the section of Chaplin known as Sherman Corner, take CT 198 north. Follow CT 198 north for 0.5 miles and turn right onto Diana’s Pool Rd. A gravel parking area with room for 6-8 vehicles will be on your left in about 75 feet.
